Our College Held A Seminar on Undergraduates' Mental Health

In the morning of April 21, our college held a seminar on undergraduates' mental health for all students in the conference room on the fifth floor of Erudite Museum Block A. This seminar invited LU Chao-xia (second class National Psychological Counselor, executive director of Shanxi Mental Health Association) from Mental Health Guidance Center of Taiyuan University of Technology to give a lecture entitled "College students' stress, emotion and self-care". Counselor CHEN Xiu-mei presided over the seminar.

At the beginning of the seminar, Ms. LU first guided the audience to two-way communication and encouraged them to talk about their views on stress. The audience expressed their feelings enthusiastically, from postgraduate entrance examination to work, from love to purchase house. Everyone's various but similar speeches resonated. Ms. LU then recorded on the whiteboard and made professional analysis. In view of the audience' various pressures, Ms. LU put forward the concept of "pressure visualization", that is, imagine the pressure as a kind of material object or feeling, and put forward corresponding countermeasures. Then, Ms. LU had a close interaction with the audience, let them rate their stress and share her usual decompression experience.

At the end of the seminar, Ms. LU encouraged the audience to cultivate the courage to talk about pressure and find decompression channels, try to relax and entertain, talk to friends or professional channels to relieve pressure. Afterwards, Ms. LU provided the online and offline reservation methods fo psychological counseling. The audience applauded and expressed their admiration for Ms. LU's professional and affirmed her noble feelings of caring for students' mental health.

College students' mental health is the base of school safety. This seminar will help to further deepen the mental health education in the school, help students deal with difficulties and puzzles in the process of learning and living, so that students can better carry out self psychological adjustment and pressure relief, and continuously improve and thrive in a more energetic mental state.
